When are Outdoor Products Recalled?
Consumers have to be protected from unreasonable risks of serious injuries or death that can be brought about by thousands of types of consumer products. It is for this reason that outdoor recalls are conducted once in a while to ensure that each and every consumer’s safety is guaranteed. Below is a look at some or outdoor recalls that have occurred in the past.
- Country Clippers Lawn Mowers Shivvers were forced to recall their country clipper riding mowers after it was found out that the units possessed fire hazard. The ignition module in these lawn mowers had a tendency of failing to ground, a situation that led to overheating and melting. Close to 1,650 units were recalled.
- Recreational Off-Road Vehicles: In December last year, Bad Boy Buggies were forced to recall their recreational off-road vehicles due to the crash hazard. The units were mounted with incorrect parking brake adjustment and improperly bled brake that could compromise a consumer’s ability to break, thus the crashing hazard. About 4,460 units were recalled in total.
- Bistro Chairs: Ross stores recalled their bistro chairs after it was found that they come with the fall hazard. The chair’s seat had a tendency of failing to attach to the frame when the chair unfolded. This caused the chair to collapse hence the fall hazard to consumers. A total of 840 chairs were recalled. The primary reason for this outdoor recall was the report of minor injuries from collapsing chairs. The injuries included back strain and minor injuries.
- Kiteboard Controlling System: Cabrinha recalled close to 1,700 of their Cabrinha Kiteboard Control Systems after they received reports of spring jamming. The unit’s RecoilTM spring fitted on the control mechanism had a tendency to jam, leading to loss of control. This further posed the risk of injury. No injuries were reported though.
- Water Sports Helmets: NRS recalled about 3,300 water sports helmets after it was established that they possessed head injury risk. The rivets holding the chip strap to the helmet had a tendency to fail, causing the helmet to fall off in an incident. The helmets were recalled in August 2014.
